Ocean Treats

While exploring the delights of St Malo in Brittany last year, we spotted this café's window promotion of local seafood.

Life's slow lane

These locks are in the Congleton area of Cheshire and I really would have liked to take a trip along these waterways on a narrow boat - alas my stay in the UK was already a busy one.  I'm told such holidays are very relaxing - apart from the regular need to flex muscles opening and closing the many, many lock gates! (If schedules weren't an issue, and I had supportive and fit travelling companions, I'd still love to undertake such a trip)

A floral feast

Just a small section of Keukenhof Gardens (the world's second-largest flower garden), situated in Lisse, Netherlands.
(I stopped over in Amsterdam en route to the UK last year, to meet the hosts of an exchange property  - located in Italy - that I would be staying in as part of my 8-week adventure. The generous hostess, Lia, gave me a wonderful tour - 45 years have passed since I was last in the Netherlands, so  it was a refreshing experience!)

Oops - I got a bit carried away, but hope you won't mind!!

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend, wherever you may be.

Unique Urbino

The following images were captured last year during a delightful 2-week house exchange in Central Italy which encompassed a visit to the walled city of Urbino - noted for its University and independent Renaissance culture.
It was also the birthplace of the painter Raffaello Sanzio, known as Raphael and these cute cherubs at the base of a statue commemorating him caught my eye.

It was a warm day and these locals seemed to be enjoying a chat in the shade of these magnificent trees

This was the view looking up the hill towards the square housing Raphael's statue - a walk not for the faint-hearted!

. . . the beautiful surrounding countryside

A delightful memory of both Italy and France is the colourful window boxes which adorn the soft pastel-coloured buildings that were in abundance throughout our travels

Italian Cherries

These cherries were growing on the property of the exchange home in Central Italy visited last year with a friend. Also growing were wine grapes, olives, figs and apples.
